Election results from around the area

The public safety tax issue at Marceline had the slimmest of margins with 70 in favor and 69 opposed. Josh Shoemaker and Brian Baker won seats on the Marceline City Council. Three proposals in Browning received voter approval. The Meadville school proposition passed with 93% support. Brookfield R-3 patrons gave 58-1/2% support to a school proposition. Elected to the Brookfield Board of Education were Ryan Burns and Jim McIntyre. With over 65% approval, voters within Brookfield renewed a pair of sales taxes. Elected to the Brookfield city council were Lonnie Trentham and Jack Forbes. Voters across Linn County adopted a law enforcement sales tax with nearly 62% approval. Winning seats on the Linn County Health Department board are Ryan Montgomery, Becky Fitzgerald, and William Copple. Chillicothe R-2 School District patrons easily approved two ballot questions. The board will be allowed to borrow $9,000,000 for an elementary school addition. The question received 75% approval. The 12 cent capital projects levy received 73% support. Chosen for the Livingston County Ambulance District board were Nona Wilkison and Ron Beetsma. It was a 20% voter turnout in Livingston County. Chosen Mayor of Chula was John Graves. Selected to the school board in Chula were Steven Case, John Graves, and Madison Imgarten.

 

Macon voters selected a new mayor on Tuesday as Scott Bigham won with a total of 587 votes as the challenger to incumbent mayor James Holman who received 514 votes unofficially. Other winners from the Municipal election included Johnny Grigsby and Lynn Mason in the Ethel City County race. For Callao Board of Alderman voters selected Christie Nolte and Craig Gorham. Lisa Harrington and Brenda Jennings were elected to the Bevier School Board. Justin Nelson and Charles Watson won positions on the school board in Atlanta. Also in Atlanta, Lisa Bender, the incumbent will retain her position as Mayor while Edwin Rhoades and Beckie Hruska were elected to the Board of Alderman in Atlanta. Two seats were available on the Macon County R-1 School Board and Chris Nelson and Billy Anderson were selected. Cheryl Blaise was elected to the Macon City Council representing Ward 4.

 

Daryl Noll comfortably won the race for Chariton County 911 Director with 87 percent of the vote. The Salisbury transportation tax proposition passed with 86 percent approval. Salisbury individual winners were Dianne Cooper and Christopher Wilhoit for school board as well as Steve Sanders for 1st Ward Alderman. Keytesville School Board seats were won by Jessica Shannon and Shawn Bartholomew. Ronald Rodgers won the Mendon Mayor race. Justin Fainter received the most votes for Mendon Board of Alderman. Richard Leppin received four more votes than Troy Fainter for the second open seat. Both Mendon propositions passed. The Brunswick Mayor race was won by Royce Young.
