Assistance from the State Fire Marshall’s office has been requested to help determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a popular Chillicothe restaurant late Tuesday. Authorities say the China Garden Buffet on South Washington Street, just north of the intersection with Business Route 36 was a total loss The Chillicothe Fire Chief said the fire may have started in the ceiling area. Prior to China Garden, the building was the location of the McDonald’s Restaurant for many years before they built a new facility just down the road. Firefighters said both ladder trucks and the pumper truck was used in fighting the fire after the call came in around 4:30 pm. The investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
